Central Michigan vs Michigan Free Betting Pick

Michigan BasketballAs we head into Saturday evening’s intrastate match up between the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Michigan Wolverines, all eyes will be on Michigan as they are one of only 4 remaining undefeated teams in the nation. On top of being undefeated in their first 12 games, Michigan is also ranked number 2 in the country and is off to their best start in 27 years. The Chippewas, on the other hand, are off to a rocky 7-5 start and are going to need a lot more than luck to march into the Crisler Center and achieve what no other team has in 12 games against Michigan this year. Central Michigan will need to pull a rabbit out of their hat in order to claim an upset but even magic will likely not help the team who is 0-3 in their last three games against top 25 teams, and in those three games they lost by an average of about 27 points.

Here are the odds according to Bovada and Bookmaker:

Central Michigan vs Michigan Odds

Central Michigan +27.5

Michigan -27.5

Over/Under 138.5

Prediction

When viewing this game on paper it looks to be a one-sided match up, and it is. The two main stats that stick out, and favor Michigan, are points for as well as points against. Michigan is averaging over 12 points more per game than Central Michigan while they are allowing an average of 11 points less per game. If the raw numbers aren’t enough to help you make your decision, the fact that Michigan is averaging those numbers against a comparatively more difficult schedule than the Chippewas means that it will take a lot for Central Michigan to pull off the upset.

This game also comes directly before Michigan opens up Big Ten play on January 3rd against Northwestern and the Wolverines are hoping to head into conference play with their record still untarnished. I am going to go with Michigan in this game because they are an all-around more powerful team both on the road and at home, and not many teams strut into Ann Arbor and come away with a victory, especially not teams that are as average as Central Michigan is. Michigan’s big men and three point shooting will likely wear out the Central Michigan players who are used to facing off against significantly smaller teams. Looking to finish their out of conference schedule in impressive fashion, I would expect the Wolverines to run away with this game from the opening tip.

Play: Michigan -27.5
